PHENOMENA is a FREE student-produced rock show put on each year by the talented students of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club and the Purduettes. It begins at 7pm on Saturday, April 5 in the Elliott Hall of Music. From classic rock to R&B, country to hip-hop, this show will have something for everyone!

Can you imagine yourself in front of thousands of screaming fans as you perform your favorite pop song? Purdue Musical Organizations is giving high school seniors interested in Purdue a once in a lifetime opportunity to do just that! Do you have what it takes?

Participants should be high school seniors graduating in 2008 with an interest in attending Purdue University. Five finalists will be selected from all entries to perform their song as the opener for PMO’s Annual PHENOMENA on April 5, 2008.

Each finalist will receive a t-shirt. The winner, determined by a panel of judges, will receive a $1,000 scholarship* toward a Purdue education and “fast-pass” opportunity into one of PMO’s varsity ensembles.

Performances should be no longer than four minutes. All participants will be judged based on stage presence & vocal quality of pitch, tone, dynamics, speech and rhythm.

Sign up by completing the online application below and mailing your resume and video to Purdue Musical Organizations by March 21, 2008.

Participants must mail a video recording (DVD or VHS) of yourself performing. This should be a solo performance, no band or group performances will be considered.

Resumes should include musical background, extracurricular activities, leadership, work and volunteer experience.

Finalists will be selected and notified no later than Friday, March 28. All finalists will need to report to Purdue Musical Organizations at the Elliott Hall of Music in West Lafayette, IN by 3 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, April 5, 2008. Finalists will take the stage beginning at 7:30 p.m.

*Winner of Purdue Idol will receive a scholarship of $1,000 awarded from Purdue Musical Organizations for the fall semester with varsity ensemble participation in the fall semester. In the event the winner of Purdue Idol be placed on academic probation, leave PMO, or be asked to resign their position, the scholarship will be revoked. Purdue Musical Organizations reserves the right to eliminate this scholarship at any time upon the discretion of the Director. We do not for any reason believe that such actions will be forthcoming.
